Car accidents have claimed 24 lives in Columbus so far this year

Ohio police have launched an investigation into a recent crash that claimed the life of one passenger. Officials in Columbus say car accidents have resulted in 24 fatalities in the city year to date. According to an accident report, this crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on a recent Thursday.

Officers reported that a 23-year-old man was driving a sedan along I-71, heading toward Interstate 270 when he failed to maintain control of the car. He hit the median wall before veering off the interstate’s left side. This propelled the car across all the traffic lanes and up an embankment under a bridge on Interstate 270. The car only came to a halt after striking the bridge’s underside and rolling back down the embankment.

Police say there were two passengers in the car along with the driver, and all three of them were transported to a medical center. Reportedly, they were all in a critical condition when they were admitted to the hospital. The driver and a 21-year-old passenger survived the crash, but a 25-year-old passenger later succumbed to his injuries.

Passengers who suffer injuries in car accidents that result from the driver’s negligence are entitled to pursue financial relief through the civil justice system in Ohio. Similarly, if a passenger dies in such a crash, his or her surviving family members may seek recovery of damages. The most effective way of doing this may be to retain the services of an experienced personal injury attorney who can provide the necessary guidance and support throughout the legal proceedings.
