According to Ohio news reports, nine individuals were injured and transported to hospitals following a two-vehicle accident Friday evening on Ohio Interstate 4. The Sandusky Post reported that the Ohio Highway Patrol has cited a 73-year-old Bellevue man for causing the nearly fatal car accident. The accident occurred at around 5:09 p.m. when the man was driving his 2004 Chevrolet 2500 south on Ohio 4 near Mason Road.
An Omsted Falls Middle School student died and another was injured on Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-car accident in Mentor. A sixth grader at Omsted Falls was killed as a result of the crash. Her brother, an eighth grader, was critically injured in the crash. The 13-year-old was transported to Rainbow's Babies & Children's Hospital where he was in critical but stable condition.
An Ohio man was killed and three more hospitalized after a four-car accident on Monday in Parkman Township. The multi-car accident occurred around 5:52 a.m. near the intersection of Route 528 and Farley Road.
A car accident yesterday on the Ohio Turnpike in Shalersville left one woman dead and another injured. Sandra Pittenger, age 59, of Alliance, was killed when her vehicle ran off the road when trying to avoid another vehicle on the road.
Ohio lost Mayor Jane L. Watts to a car accident this past Sunday night. Mayor Watts was killed when an SUV crashed into the minivan she was driving. Ohio State Patrol reports indicate the car accident occurred at 9:13 p.m. on state Route 231 at Baer Road in Grand Prairie Township.According to investigators, the 16 year old driver of the SUV ran a stop sign, striking Watts' van. Watts was elected Mayor of Morral, Ohio in 2007, also serving as dog warden for Marion County before resigning last year. The former teacher had also previously been vice-president of the Ridgedale Local Schools Board of Education.
