Spokespersons for the Ohio State Highway Patrol say that statistics concerning wrong-way crashes within the state have not been routinely kept over the years, but that they are being especially noted now and will be an individual category for close scrutiny beginning next year.

Recent news reports detail that a truck driver remains in critical condition following a multi-truck accident on Interstate 95 South. A 59-year-old tractor-trailer driver, from Williamsburg, New Jersey, was critically injured while driving a rig carrying cranberries when his rig rear-ended a flatbed tractor-trailer that was stopped for traffic half a mile south of Exit 74 around 7:14 p.m. As a result of the initial collision, the second truck was forced into a box truck stopped in front of it.
A recent truck accident in Ohio critically injured 5 people, including two children and an infant, last week on I-70 when a tractor-trailer and a minivan collided in western Franklin County. According to Franklin County deputies, the truck accident occurred around 3 p.m. when a Ford Windstar heading east on Interstate 70 was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer truck. As a result of the collision, the Ford Windstar's back half of the vehicle was crush and forced off the south side of the freeway.
