Truck Accident on I-77S Shrinks Highway to One Lane

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, Interstate 77 South was shrunk to one lane and backed up traffic following a truck accident in which a semitrailer carrying building supplies was jackknifed. The truck accident reportedly occurred around 5:30 a.m. yesterday near the Ridgewood Road exit, which caused the Ridgewood entrance ramp and highway to be closed until about 8:30 a.m. when crews re-opened one lane while continuing to remove the debris from the roadway.

Reports detail that the truck involved in the accident was carrying drywall and drywall supplies, which ended up scatted all over I-77 following the truck accident. "Crews had to use a snow plow to clear the debris from the road, and they hoped to open at least one lane of traffic around 7:30 a.m., but they were not able to re-open any lanes until 9 a.m." The truck was badly damaged in the accident and was not drivable following the incident.

No one was injured in this truck accident. After crews removed all of the debris and the disabled truck, all lanes of Interstate 77 south were reopened around 4 p.m. yesterday. While this was happening, the Ohio Department of Transportation was warning motorists of winter-road conditions and advised people to slow down due to icy rain turning into ice on roadways.
