Truck Accident Creates Major Traffic Problems on I-77S

A recent truck accident in Bath Township, Ohio, caused some major delays in traffic on Interstate 77 South on Wednesday morning. According to responding law enforcement officers and recent news reports, the truck accident occurred on I-77S, on a bridge going over State Route 18, when a jackknifed semi-truck was forced up against the center wall of the roadway. Police believe that a smaller box truck, which was traveling in front of the semi-truck, lost control and lost its load all over the highway.

As a result of the truck accident, the driver of the small box truck was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries. Reports detailed that they did not know the extent of the driver's injuries. Following the truck accident, traffic on Interstate 77 was backed up for several miles due to the lane blockage. Cars using the interstate were forced to use the exit lane to get around the semi-truck and debris.

In another un-related Ohio truck accident, a Springfield truck driver could face charges for running over and fatally injuring another truck driver while leaving ArcelorMittal in Shelby Monday afternoon. According to Shelby police, they are considering criminal charges against the truck driver including vehicular homicide. The man that was killed was struck by the semi in the shipping area of Plant 1 of ArcelorMittal.

"Authorities say the initial investigation shows Lefebvre had just loaded his semi with steel tubing and was walking back to his truck from the guard stand when he was struck. He was taken to MedCentral Shelby Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later."
