Ohio Truck Accident Injures Girl, Infant

A recent truck accident in Ohio critically injured 5 people, including two children and an infant, last week on I-70 when a tractor-trailer and a minivan collided in western Franklin County. According to Franklin County deputies, the truck accident occurred around 3 p.m. when a Ford Windstar heading east on Interstate 70 was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer truck. As a result of the collision, the Ford Windstar's back half of the vehicle was crush and forced off the south side of the freeway.

Police detailed that the entire rear of the minivan was compacted all the way to the front seats of the vehicle during the crash. As a result of the truck accident, an infant who was in a child safety seat at the time of the accident was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital and was admitted in critical condition. Additionally, a girl was critically injured and taken to Ohio State University Medical Center for treatment following the truck accident. The mother of the children, who was driving the van at the time of the crash was also taken to OSU in critical condition through her injures appeared to be non-life threatening. A male passenger was also taken to Grant Medical Center in serious condition.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash and have not yet revealed if the truck driver was at fault for the crash. Officials with the sheriff's office did not release the names of those injured in the truck accident. As a result of the truck accident, Interstate 70 was partially closed for several hours but reopened following the crash.
