Truck Accident Causes Semi to Crash Into Apartment Building

Three people were taken to the hospital after a truck accident last week in Waynesville. The truck accident occurred around 7 a.m. on Friday when a semi-truck crashed into an apartment building at the intersection of Corwin Avenue and U.S. 42.

According to news reports, the truck accident was caused by a pickup truck that struck the semi, which sent both vehicles hurling into an apartment complex. Officers on the scene detailed that the semi was traveling southbound on Route 42 and had the right of way when a 16-year-old driver of the pickup failed to stop at a stop sign.

As a result of the incident, both the truck driver and teenager were taken to the hospital following the crash. Additionally, one person who had been inside the apartment complex at the time of the accident was also injured. All injuries sustained were reported as non-life threatening. Another resident in the three-unit building was in bed at the time of the accident and was not injured but detailed that the crash caused one of his bedroom walls to collapse from the impact.

According to Waynesville police, this is not the first accident at this intersection. They said accidents are frequent in this area of the town. News reports detailed that the Waynesville police are working with the Ohio Department of Transportation and Waynesville community leaders to have a stop light installed to avoid future accidents.

No charges have been filed in this case. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
